This month’s Trainer Tip comes from Lois Smith, a certified personal trainer at Eco Fitness.
Lois offers her advice on the importance of eating after exercise.
It’s important to eat after you exercise. Whether you want to gain muscle, lose fat, improve your lifestyle, or become an elite athlete, the most important limiting factor is always nutrition. Good nutrition is key to achieving your goals in the gym.
I feel as if the hour after a tough workout is the most important time to feed your body in order to maintain lean mass, improve recovery, and boost metabolism. I can only help my clients if they are willing to make nutrition a top priority. It is the most significant factor determining the training outcome and most often I find that those changes have to come from within.
Lois has been teaching and training for more than 16 years. She has a master’s degree in education from the College of Charleston.
