Wheatgrass: Natureʼs Perfect Blood Builder?
Imagine you were a human blood cell. One single human red blood cell. What would be your best choice of fuel, nutrition and “energy”? Those in the know say wheatgrass juice, of course! In a song about the sad state of affairs in this world, Don Henley of the Eagles wrote, “There are no facts, only data to be manipulated.” Unfortunately, this is true in our current mainstream “food” model. Fortunately, there is a movement based on real knowledge and not consumerist-based half truths.
Back to the choice of the single red blood cell. A clean, pure, fresh red blood cell would want the following:
1. Living food with the life force still pulsating in it.
2. Clean fuel: no pesticides, herbicides or cellular suicides.
3. Easily digestible fuel: remember we are not just what we eat, we are what we are able to digest and assimilate.
4. A nutrient-dense, power-packed fuel source.
Wheatgrass juice meets all the above criteria … and more.
Just like everything else in the universe, wheatgrass has physical and meta-physical properties.
Letʼs get physical first.
A very succinct source of wheatgrass information is the “Wheatgrass Permachart” from the Hippocrates Health Institute store. It states the following:
1. Wheatgrass has a long tradition as a blood cleanser.
2. It is a powerful, detoxifying agent that builds red blood cells.
3. It feeds the body by activating the white blood cells, which boosts the bodyʼs immune system.
4. Wheatgrass is high in chlorophyll and has been called the “blood” of the plant with a molecular structure almost identical to the hemoglobin molecule of human blood.
5. One ounce of wheatgrass contains 103 vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. What a powerful & efficient way to improve the quality of our blood!
Another great wheatgrass resource is the book Wheatgrass: Natureʼs Finest Medicine by Steve “Sproutman” Meyerowitz.
Sproutman calls wheatgrass a “cornucopia of enzymes and nutrients.” Fresh wheatgrass juice is a viable enzyme soup. Its cells dance with metabolic activity. It is so charged with “chi” or bioelectric energy that you can feel it rushing through your body or raising the hair on the back of your neck after drinking it.
He also lists stories of people raising their dangerously low blood platelet counts by ingesting wheatgrass. In his book he shares many other healing stories about the role of wheatgrass as it relates to the blood.
Last week I had a conversation with Viktoras Kulvinskas, the pioneer raw foodist, while he was in Sedona, Arizona, for Raw Spirit. He stated the following about wheatgrass and the blood, “Nutritionally itʼs like mothers milk. Chemically itʼs the closest thing to the structure of hemoglobin.
Spiritually speaking, itʼs the nectar of the Gods for pure, radiant life energy.”
Now letʼs get meta-physical … beyond the physical.
Think about the power and mystery of plants. They can transform pure sunlight and nutrients into a glorious green structure. All the energy on earth comes from the sun. Photosynthesis is the process that converts the sunʼs energy to chlorophyll so that humans and animals can utilize it. Since wheatgrass juice is so rich in chlorophyll, ingesting it is an efficient way to get this power and energy of the sun into our bodies.
Sproutman says, “Wheatgrass enlivens you. Itʼs a natural high, boosting your own manufacture of adrenaline. Itʼs how you feel when you are on top of the world.” This is the spiritual factor that is a necessary tool to battle any and all illness. The Chinese call it “chi”; the yogis call it “kundalini” — the God force, the life force. You are the healer; wheatgrass is the energizer. Even those who arenʼt spiritually oriented can appreciate the benefit of life force flowing through their blood, body, and soul. To really amplify your wheatgrass experience, close your eyes and envision pure
green light energy empowering your bloodstream , body and soul.
