The Charleston Farmers Market has BEGUN and will be held every Saturday from 8am- 2pm extending through the holiday season in December! Your learning will take place in the raw food, completely organic ,VEGAN kitchen of The Sprout with Chef Mickey Brennan. The focus will be making vegan, yummy, raw cheeze; the importance of “live” enzymes; and how to make “live” crackers which may turn out to be the most sustainable and cost effective food in your kitchen!

Chef Mickey Brennan

Mickey Brennan has been in the food business since he was a child playing in his parent’s restaurant in Grand River, Ohio. His early start in the restaurant gave inspiration for college experiences ranging from Mountain Chalets in Switzerland to the premier resort in the Ozarks of Missouri. After college when he received his BA in Hotel Restaurant Management at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA, Mickey returned to the Cleveland area to take on running his family business. It was an honor to be side-by-side with his parents and family for almost 10 years before he decided to hone in his skills by continuing his education. He committed to pursuing a traditional French Culinary degree from California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, CA. Prior to moving to San Francisco, Mickey and his wife, Caroline, had been dabbling in organics and living food detox adventures. Culinary school was a shock to what they had personally been exploring related to health and food, so Mickey’s choice to do his externship work at Cafe Gratitude seemed like a perfect balance. Cafe Gratitude is an all organic, vegan cafe featuring mostly raw dishes. This was truly heaven for Mickey. The inspiration from this experience and the growing desire to raise the level of health in the world are the foundation of where Mickey is today- gratefully serving his community with health and great tasting food. He looks forward to spending time with you in class!
